Since 2010, the mission of the dance program has been to educate students in the art and science of dance. The B.S. in Dance Science offers students the opportunity to combine the aesthetics of dance with the sciences that govern it. We provide students with a personalized approach to dance training through hands-on, field-based experiences including technical production, dance science research, and Pilates. Programs offered: BS in Dance Science, Dance Performance Minor, Choreography Minor.

The Ailey School and Ailey/Fordham BFA - NYC

The Ailey/Fordham BFA Program is a four-year joint program offering professional dance training at The Ailey School and an exceptional liberal arts education rooted in the Jesuit tradition of intellectual development and personal attention at Fordham University. Students complete a diverse curriculum while attending both institutions full time. The program offers a comprehensive study of several dance techniques, preparing graduates for a variety of jobs in today's diverse dance profession. Ailey/Fordham BFA students complete a curriculum that includes a carefully designed sequence of dance and liberal arts courses, encouraging students to achieve their artistic and academic potential. At The Ailey School, students take a rigorous schedule of daily classes in ballet, Horton, and Graham-based modern. In addition, students also take a variety of other dance classes and creative courses specific to the BFA in Dance program, including jazz, West African, partnering, and improvisation, among others.

At the Event: ALL applicants must appear in person at one of Ailey’s own auditions. Participants will be evaluated for a chance to receive a recommendation for an invite (this is only if Academic requirements are met) Invites will be received by email by December 1st.

Connecticut College - New London - CT

Step into dance at Connecticut College, and you discover a program shaped by some of the most notable names in the field. The American Dance Festival was held here for 30 years, establishing the College's reputation as a premier place to learn dance. You get the best of all worlds – a strong liberal arts education with an equally strong, comprehensive, supportive and demanding dance program that encourages interdisciplinary exploration. Close to New York City, Boston and Providence many guest artists and performances come to campus. The company-in-residence, David Dorfman Dance, teaches classes and choreographs works with students for a two-week period each semester. Recent guests include Kyle Abraham, Monica Bill Barnes and Faye Driscoll. The department has a rich diversity of technique instruction including: Modern, Hip Hop, West African, Afro-Diasporic, Ballet, and Improvisation. It offers four levels of choreography, including a Capstone project which is developed in a Senior Seminar format. In addition, we have courses in history, writing, anatomy, theories of embodiment, social justice, technology/media, hip hop culture, music, and more. Program Offered: BA.

Cornish College of the Arts - Seattle, WA

As a dance major at Cornish, you’ll combine rigorous training with creative freedom. Develop the healthy and sustainable practices you’ll need to be a working dancer. Immerse yourself in a curriculum centered on technique, collaboration, improvisation, screendance, choreography, and performance. Learn from faculty members who have mastered multiple forms of dance and pioneered their own. Join a community of collaborators and innovators shaping the Seattle dance world, and beyond.The dance program at Cornish prepares you to perform, choreograph, direct and teach dance. You’ll know your history and you’ll develop the skills to speak and write about dance. Spend an average of 6 to 8 hours each day in the studio, with a minimum of 13 hours of technique classes per week. Perform both choreographed and improvisational works. Refine your technique in contemporary dance styles, jazz, modern, and ballet. Learn the fundamentals of technical production and design. Choreograph and create performance pieces for both real-world and digital spaces. Program offered: BFA

UNC School of the Arts - Winston-Salem, NC

Students of the School of Dance develop the technical skill, artistic creativity and stylistic versatility to prepare them for professional performing careers. The program, which offers Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance concentrations, immerses students in the discipline of dance with a conservatory-approach that includes class instruction, studio practice, specialized workshops with visiting artists and choreographers, and countless performance opportunities. Liberal arts courses are a part of all programs at UNCSA.

The Classical Ballet concentration at UNCSA combines rigorous technical training, frequent performance opportunities, and collaboration with renowned guest artists, such as Margaret Tracy, Nilas Martin, Gina Paterson, Tom Gold and Claudia Schreier, offering students a well-rounded education that prepares them for professional careers in ballet.

The Contemporary Dance conservatory at UNCSA prepares students for professional careers with a diverse repertory and numerous performance opportunities, featuring works by renowned choreographers like Robert Battle and Twyla Tharp. Students gain a solid foundation in dance fundamentals, while exploring various styles through workshops and performances, fostering creativity and versatility. Programs offered: BFA

Middlesex University - London, UK

Dancers train in a professional-level environment and take advantage of our excellent dance facilities including five fully equipped dance studios and a specialist dance theatre. Joining us, they’ll also benefit from our excellent sports rehab department to maintain your physical fitness while you study your degree with us.

Our Dance BA Honours allows you to develop your professional skills by reflecting on creative practices and creating your own unique performances. You'll also have access to professional training facilities including four fully-equipped dance studios and a specialist dance theatre. You will gain skills in technical and performance proficiency in dance contributing to a diverse range of creative processes, sophisticated interdisciplinary and collaborative practical engagement and how to apply safe dance practice in dance learning and teaching environments. You will be engaging with dance in diverse community contexts with inclusivity as central to the experience, presenting work through different modalities including the use of digital technology, build confidence in contributing to critical debates with informed opinions.

Professional Arts Practice BA Honours: Our department has strong ties to London's creative industries, making this the ideal place to enhance your existing experience and build a professional network. This course is designed to be flexible so it can fit around your existing commitments. Taught through an innovative mix of taught online sessions and virtual learning, you'll receive personalized support to develop your creative practice and build a professional network. The course will culminate in a major practice-based project, allowing you to showcase your work in a discipline of your choosing. You'll also be able to channel your existing experience into a BA, giving you an excellent foundation to build a career in the creative industries. Scholarships up to £5,000 merit awards available for talented first year students.

UMKC Conservatory - Kansas City, MO

The Dance program at UMKC focuses on dance technique and theory, and we are committed to advancing creativity. You’ll create a strong foundation for your career in dance, rooted in ballet, modern dance and choreography. Our program is equal-emphasis between ballet and modern dance, and your learning experience will mirror the current programming of national dance companies. Through our Great Works Projects, our students have the opportunity to dance in masterpieces like George Balanchine's Serenade, Robert Battle's Battlefield, Twyla Tharp's Torelli, Petipa's Paquita, Philip Jerry's Our Town and Paul Taylor's Aureole.

We want to provide you with as many professional opportunities as possible, so you are granted two weeks leave per semester to dance professionally. Students have performed the Kansas City Ballet's The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet and Firebird, The Nutcracker tour with Albany Berkshire Ballet, Setting the Stage with Friends of Alvin Ailey and with the Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Company. Program offered: BFA

At the Event: Dancers will be evaluated for recommendation. In person auditions still required. Accepting 25 max. each Fall. Must qualify for academic admissions first.

At the Event:This event will serve as an initial scholarship audition. The faculty at Hartt values building a strong, collaborative community with their incoming cohort, and being seen in person by Dean Merrill is a key part of that process. Once evaluated, students will not need an additional in-person audition but will only be required to submit a video, making this a valuable opportunity to showcase their talent directly.

University of North Carolina - Greensboro, NC

Within the context of UNCG’s comprehensive liberal arts curriculum, the School of Dance offers bachelors and masters degrees that provide specialized skills for a variety of careers in the evolving field of dance. The school’s primary goal is to teach students the imaginative, critical, and technical skills essential to the creative process and to scholarly inquiry. Our comprehensive curricula foster inclusive learning and intellectual curiosity framed by an engagement with cultural diversity, community outreach, and global issues as related to dance. The school prepares undergraduate and graduate students for further study and creating successful and productive lives as artists, educators, and scholars at the state, regional, national and international levels.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is a studio-intensive program that prepares students for a career in the art of dance, with an emphasis on choreography and performance. The program is open to students who maintain a 2.75 grade point average in addition to the entry audition. BFA students in dance can also choose to add NC K-12 Standard Professional I Licensure to their degree program.

The Bachelor of Arts in Dance Studies provides students with a liberal arts-focused education in dance, allowing for flexibility in creating an educational experience tailored to individual strengths and the pursuit of multiple majors. The Bachelor of Arts Dance major, requiring 122 semester hours, with 50 in dance, is an option for students interested in a double major. Students electing to take a double major often pair the Dance major with another major in Arts Administration, Pre-Sports Medicine, Kinesiology, Elementary or Special Education, among many other complementary disciplines.

All BFA and BA students take studio technique courses in contemporary dance, ballet, and African dance, with elective courses in tap, jazz, capoeira, technology for dance, and somatic practices. In addition, all students complete a course of study in improvisation/choreography, performance, dance production and dance history.
